The New Balance 1224 is a high mileage trainer that is a stable and well cushioned running shoe. A premier stability running shoe that features a medial post and extended web for stability. Excellent cushioning is provided by New Balance's ABZORB® materials.

Upper
Lightweight, synthetic leather and Air Mesh upper, with reflectivity for nighttime safety. A dual density Ortholite® foam insert delivers long term comfort, breathability, and anti-microbial function to fight odor. The TS2® Transitional Support System helps create a smooth transition from heel strike to toe-off. ABZORB® Strobel board for additional cushioning. The medial EXTENDED WEB is a lengthened Stability Web® delivering midfoot support, increased stability, and mild pronation control. N-LOCK® external support system ensures the body of the shoe is pulled snugly around your midfoot. The COCONA™ Phantom Liner reduces the weight of the shoe and enhances the comfort and fit. A Dual Density Collar uses both a softer density foam against the foot for cushioning, and a firmer density foam for support. The Sure Lace™ secure shoe laces provide added midfoot support and keep the shoe snug around the foot.

Full Footbed of ABZORB® exceptional shock absorption; Absorb® SBS in the forefoot and Absorb® DTS in the heel for maximum shock absorption. Abzorb® DTS (Dynamic Transition System) combines Abzorb® foam, Abzorb® FL and Abzorb® SBS to provide optimal cushioning and a smooth transition on heel strike. A Transitional Support System provides optimal support while enhancing transition from heel strike to forefoot. N-Durance® rubber compound for maximum outsole durability. The Blown Rubber Outsole is extremely flexible, light, and helps provide cushioning.
